Weather CEU - 3rd Grade
A System...
First we took a close look at a familiar and fun SYSTEM - a drawing of a Rube Goldberg system. We then identified particular items on the drawing as specific parts of a system.
Weather as a System...
Then it was time to look at our Earth systems and layout, in order to connect it with weather as a system.
Using Our Senses...
Like real meteorologists, we used our senses to observe and record weather conditions.
Beaufort Scale
Time to observe weather using a device thought up in the 1800s!
Resisting Hurricane-Force Winds
Knowing the scale of hurricane force winds, using the Beaufort Scale, it was time to come up with a plan for constructing a tower structure that could resist those forces - AND THEN BUILD IT!

Time to PUT THEM TO THE TEST!!!
Latitude and Altitude
We took daily data of high temperatures in various locations on the Earth in order to plot and draw conclusions about the impact latitude and altitude have on temperature.
Researching Our Own Interest:
Our final project gave use the opportunity to research something about the topic of weather than interested each of us. Here we are, presenting to the class.
